Playback Press History

PlayBack Press, LLC., was founded in July 2006 by Kristin Murnane, as a way to continue publishing entertainment pieces after her college graduation. After recruiting a few friends and colleagues, PBP began regularly covering music tours, interviewing and photographing bands at festivals such as Vans Warped Tour and Washington D.C.'s HFStival.

In 2007, PlayBack Press expanded and is now not only a place where fans can read about their favorite entertainers, but PBP has reached out to rising bands, singers, artists, and actors as a booking and publicity agency. Our first client, Stella Mira, signed with PBP in the summer of 2007.

PlayBack Press averages between 30-45k hits per month, and will be "renovating" their website to include merchandise, a message board, and a members only section, which should be complete in the fall of 2007.

Murnane graduated from East Carolina University in May 2006 with a B.S. in Public Relations and also served on the editorial board at the college newspaper, The East Carolinian. Her work has been featured on MSNBC, USA Today, and an infamous interview with past American Idol contestants has landed her on websites such as votefortheworst.com. A few of her interviewees include musicians Joan Jett, Taking Back Sunday, The Spill Canvas, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Bowling for Soup, as well as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) CEO Linda McMahon. Most recently, Murnane covered the Virgin Music Festival, including The Police, Amy Winehouse, and The Smashing Pumpkins.
